| Bio: | This is an "In-Character" journal to help me get into the mindset of one of my main characters. Rick is a witch and heir to the Valdez legacy. When the time is right, he'll be given his father's place in the most powerful coven in the world. Rick is a well-adjusted young man who's both ready to take on his responsibilities, but also very patient about it. Until then, he's content to use his abilities for the better good as a member of the Macabre fire department. His specialty is as a watermaker (a weather witch with the ability to control and generate water), so it makes the most sense for him to work in the fire department. It gives him great peace and enjoyment to know that he can save lives. In his free time, Rick relaxes by listening to sounds of nature on CD, or when he's really stressed, he goes into his atrium where he can call up a real storm to wash over him. Occassionally, Rick is asked to assist the SECT especially in times when his special abilities will be useful. However, he's often called in to help because as a witch, he can harness energy which he can then lend to others to help them create more powerful magic than they would on their own. His best friends are Blaire "Beck" Beckinridge Caulfield and Aaron Glosten.
In Rick's world, the Monsters came public and gained legal status, but over time that legal status has become endangered. Though the monsters were accepted in the 60s, they're treated with wariness and suspicion today. Most people have returned to believing that there's no such things like Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and Zombies. For their protection, most of the monsters, who call themselves "Darklings", built their own city, Macabre, California. As long as they stay out of the public's way, then most government officials are content to leave them in peace. However, not all the monsters like to play by the rules. SECT is there to take care of such monsters and the events they cause. |
